Here are recordings of Ethel Merman which for Merman fans, of which I am one, are a delight! The recordings as a whole are excellent and Merman belts them out as only she could do. There are two recordings from the s radio broadcasts which are not up to the excellent quality of the other recordings but are of interest historically and give /5(13).

Feb 16,  · Ethel Merman, the musical-comedy star whose belting voice and brassy style entertained Broadway and movie audiences for 50 years, was found dead in her Manhattan apartment yesterday.

When she wasn't appearing on Broadway, Ethel Merman made occasional forays into the recording studio; usually, all that record executives wanted her to do was record new versions of songs from her Broadway shows and films. She acquiesced to this request many times, resulting in such collections of re-recordings as Ethel Merman Sings Songs She Has Made Famous (Decca, ), Merman -- .

Eadie Was A Lady This song is by Ethel Merman. Maud and Mabel, seated at a table Talking over bygone days Mabel sporty, fat and over forty Said, "Remember Edith Hayes" Eadie was a sucker for a bottle and glass But in spite of everything that gal had class Then one winter, she wed a Chinese printer Struck her with refined like ways But Eadie was a lady (Eadie was a lady) Though her past was.
